Northern Fairfax County's Babe Ruth 13U All Stars dominated its first game of the state tournament with a 9-0 victory over District 5's Greenwood Wednesday.
Nitro was outstanding at the plate, with RBIs being driven in by the following players: Dillon Suzuki, Jake Peterson, A.C. Boynton, Spencer Buehler, Luke Stievater, Matthew Knox, and Matthew House.
Defensively, the team turned in impressive performances, with A.C. Boynton pitching strong for the first four innings, and Spencer Buehler closing the game.
The team will play next on Saturday at 5 p.m.
The state tournament is being played in Summit Point, West Virginia, an area of West Virginia that plays within the Virginia State Tournament since the majority of its competitive play is in Virginia.
The team is managed by Shawn Boynton, and coached by R.J. House and John Broussard. NFC Babe Ruth pulls players from the Reston, Herndon and Chantilly areas of Fairfax County.
