Chantilly High Weekly Sports Review
Last week's varsity sports scores.
Baseball: Free of any spring break tournament hangover, the Chantilly Chargers baseball team continued their late season hot streak, winning five straight. Last week, the Chargers outscored their opponents 26-4, bringing their record to 10-4 on the season overall, and 4-2 in district play.
On Monday night, standout junior pitcher, Caleb Reinhardt, pitched a complete game, allowing only three hits and striking out seven.
Girls Soccer: The Chargers went 2-0 last week, turning in one of the most impressive weeks in recent history. Chantilly upset undefeated, top-ranked Stone Bridge High School 2-1 on Tuesday night. In fitting fashion, Chantilly’s big upset occurred on Senior Night, during which the Chargers honored the five members of the team’s senior class. Seniors Jane Muir, Elizabeth Casey, Eileen Sechler, Katie Taylor and Madyson Brown will be sure to remember Senior Night for a long time.
Not to be outdone by Monday’s thrilling victory, Chantilly defeated second-ranked Westfield High School, 2-1, on Thursday. The Chargers have now won four straight as they are set to enter the final few weeks of regular season play.
Boys Lacrosse: The Chargers hit the road last week, playing both of their games away from home. Much like it’s been for most of the season, the Chargers met little resistance, winning both games with ease. The Chargers beat Westfield 10-3 on Wednesday, and defeated Herndon 8-4 on Friday. With both wins, Chantilly improved to 12-1 on the season.
Girls Lacrosse: Despite a two-week break from game play, the team did not waiver from its quest for an undefeated season. The Chargers easily defeated Westfield and Herdon last week, outscoring those opponents 24-11.
The Chargers enter next Friday’s Concorde District Tournament as early favorites, with a 16-0 record.
