Dogtopia Will Hold Charity Dog Wash July 22

In an effort to raise funds for working dogs, Dogtopia of Dulles will be washing dogs from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on July 22

Dogtopia of Dulles will take part in a charity dog wash to raise money for working and military dogs.

On July 22, local dog owners can bring their dogs to 3850-D Dulles South Ct. between 11 a.m. and 3 p.m. After dogs are washed, there will be food and other activities for families and their pets.

Dogtopia requests a $15 donation per wash and has a goal of washing at least 100 dogs during its 8th annual charity dog wash. Nationwide, Dogtopia locations hope to wash more than 2,500 dogs and raise $25,000.

“It’s more important than ever to give back to local working dogs in our communities, since funding is being cut in the government,” Amy Nichols, CEO and Founder of Dogtopia said.

The first fundraiser was held at the original Dogtopia in Vienna. It received $9,000 in donations and allowed for supplies, such as cooling pads and protective gear, to be shipped to military dogs overseas. Since then donations have helped to assist police dogs, military dogs and therapy dogs.

The success of the fundraiser led to the development of a charity called K-9 Support, Inc. Since founding, over $80,000 has been raised and allowed for the purchased of specialized equipment for search and rescue dogs, assisting in costs of training service animals and various other items.
