Fire Blotter: Sprinklers Put Out Fair Oaks Kitchen Fire

Fire started around 7:30 p.m. Tuesday on Monument Ct.

A sprinkler system put out a kitchen fire in the Fair Oaks area on Tuesday, though two people sustained minor injuries. 

Firefighters from the Fairfax County Fire and Rescue Department responded to a 911 call from the 4100 block of Monument Ct. in Fairfax, next to the Fairfax Towne Center shopping plaza. The fire started around 7:30 p.m. and was out within a few minutes. 

Chief Kenny Wolfrey said that the incident was a reminder that "sprinklers save lives."
