Manassas Park Man Charged in the Death of Chantilly Man
Chantilly man died in July after April assault.
Prosecutors charged William Santiago, 29, of Manassas Park, Tuesday with "unlawful wounding" in the July death of 42-year-old Amadeo Guerra-Giron, according to a news release issued Thursday.
Guerra-Giron died some three months after police answered a call and found him injured at 8:25 p.m. on April 29 in a wooded area on the 3000 block of Virginia Dare Court in Chantilly.
Fairfax Police said it is not clear if Guerra-Giron was living in Chantilly at the time of the incident.
EMS transported the injured victim to a local hospital. Meanwhile, a police investigation led to their identifying an acquaintance of the victim—Santiago—as the suspect.
In May,the Guerra-Giron was transferred under medical care to his home country of Guatemala, but succumb to his injuries on July 23.
Consultations between Guatemalan officials and prosecutors over the last several months resulted in the Fairfax County Commonwealth Attorney’s Office charging the suspect on Tuesday.
