UPDATE: Middle School Teacher Charged With Drunk in Public

The South Riding teacher, from Centreville, has resigned.

Radhakrishnan Sivaramapillai, 46, a teacher from Centreville, was arrested and charged for being drunk in public while at the school on Monday, Nov. 14.

A staff member reported suspicions that the physics teacher was under the influence of alcohol to the school's admistration. The administration then reported the incident to the Loudoun County Sheriff's Office.

Sivaramapillai is currently suspended pending the outcome of his case or action on his part, according to Loudoun County Public Schools Public Information Officer Wayde Byard.Β 

Byard added that students were unaware of the matter, and the situation was handled discreetly.Β 

Kraig Troxell, spokesman for the Loudoun County Sheriff's Office, said that Sivaramapillai has been released from the Adult Detention Center.
