Mother Goose Returns to the Chantilly Stage
Chantilly High School presents "Even More Really Fabulous Fairy Tales from Mother Goose" July 13-14
Sequels are not just at the movie theaters this summer. At the Chantilly High School theater, Mother Goose returns to the stage in Even More Really Fabulous Fairy Tales from Mother Goose.
Volunteer actors from the Chantilly Drama Department come together to perform in this summer’s children’s show, a fundraiser event for the department. There are four performances, two each on Wednesday, July 13 and Thursday, July 14.
In the original, Jill accidentally dropped her pail on Mother Goose as she ran down the hill, and the resulting lump on her head caused some confused details in her familiar tales. There are no injuries in the sequel, just a traffic jam.
“As the show begins,” said Director and Playwright Ed Monk, “Mother Goose is stuck in traffic and Father Goose must take over until she arrives. Unfortunately, like most husbands, Father Goose has not paid attention to his wife very well and proceeds to mess up the stories. When Mother Goose arrives, she must straighten everything out.”
The stories will include such favorites as "The Three Billy Goats Gruff", "The Goose that Laid the Golden Egg", "The Tortoise and the Hare", "Little Miss Muffet", "The Cat and the Fiddle" and "The Old Woman Who Lived in the Shoe".
Here are the details:
Wednesday, July 13 at 3 and 7 p.m.
Thursday, July 14 at 3 and 7 p.m.
At the Chantilly High School Auditorium
Tickets are $5 at the door.
“We know that the summer can get a little long,” said Monk, “and going to the pool is fun, but sometimes it’s nice to have something else to do. So hopefully the parents and kids will get to spend a day seeing some fun theater, and our kids get a chance to perform for them.”
