After 20 years on WRQX, the station pulls the plug on popular morning radio program.
For those who listen to Mix-107.3 FM, "Love your show babe," was the signature sign-off for morning show host Jack Diamond and it was also how listeners signed off when calling in to the show. Loyal listeners may have noticed that Diamond was missing in the mornings the past two weeks, replaced temporarily by various hosts. But Diamond's not on vacation — he's off the station for good, according to the station. Two weeks ago, the Washington DC radio station WRQX-FM, owned by Cumulus Media, deleted all references to the popular longtime radio host on its Web site and loyal listeners unknowingly heard the last morning show by Diamond after 22 years on the radio station. Will you listen to the new syndicated show taking its place? Take our …
Station's promos for replacement program feature jokes about adult films, bodily functions.
For more than 20 years, Northern Virginians in the DC region faithfully tuned in to hear the "Jack Diamond Morning Show" on MIX 107.3. The show's mix of popular music, Washington-area news, Hollywood gossip and bantering among co-hosts eased drivers into their mornings and kept them company in DC's notoriously long morning commutes. One of the things listeners say they liked most about the show was that it was a "clean" program they could listen to when their kids were in the car, especially driving them to school. Anne wrote on Diamond's Facebook page: "My tween and I both enjoyed listening to you on the way to school." After Diamond's show was unceremoniously pulled from the air by Cumulus Media more than two weeks ago, a series of …

Fairfax Chamber of Commerce won't support a possible 4 percent tax on meals and beverages in Fairfax County. But some leaders say it's a good way to bring in extra revenue.
A potential meals tax in Fairfax County is already leaving a bad taste in the mouths of some members of the business community. During a meeting of the county’s top economic officials Tuesday, the Fairfax County Chamber of Commerce (FCCC) said it was opposed to the tax. Christian Deschauer, the FCCC’s vice president of government relations, said the chamber would not support a referendum — a position shared by many restaurant owners, he said. “We’ve never supported state legislation or board action that specifically targets a single industry,” Deschauer said. “I’ve talked to a bunch of restaurants in the past week … and the message has not changed from them – they remain adamantly opposed. That’s just the initial feedback.” Last week …

WRQX obviously doesn't know what loyal listeners are. The new show is hideous and the station owes listeners an explanation as to what happened! Jack isn't even allowed to say anything! What was his bonus that big to put a gag order in him and the rest of the morning team? The new show is crap! Hopefully the JD morning show will be on another local station really soon! See ya 1073.   more ›
