By Beth LawtonA Flash Flood Watch is in effect for the entire region starting at noon Thursday and continuing through Thursday evening, as pop-up thunderstorms and rain continue to soak the area.
The flash flood watch includes Arlington, Fairfax, Loudoun and Prince William Counties and beyond.
In addition, parts of Loudoun County face a flood warning for small streams.
“Another round of showers and thunderstorms with locally heavy rain is expected this afternoon and evening,” the National Weather Service is reporting. “In addition to the rainfall fromWednesday, a general one to two inches of rain has fallen across…portions of the Washington metropolitan area. Any storms that form will produce heavy rain that could lead to flash flooding.”
Scattered thunderstorms may continue through Friday before the skies clear this weekend. Friday’s high temperatures will reach the mid-80s.
The sun will return for Saturday, with a high temperature of 80. Temperatures will warm back into the mid-80s for Sunday under mostly sunny skies.
