This week marks the 150th anniversary of the beginning of the Civil War. Learn more about the events at Fort Sumter that led to the first shots fired and the beginning of the long war. This lecture series is presented by Bull Run Civil War Round Table.

Why Go?
  There is nothing like a warm campfire and a starry night.  A naturalist will be on hand to talk about the night sky and point out the spring constellations.
Pricing?
$5 for Fairfax County residents, $7 for non-county residents. Registration is required.

 Clay Café Studios in Chantilly is supporting the Empty Bowls Fundraiser (to help raise money to keep food pantries and other sources of food well stocked for our less fortunate community members) by having a paint one/donate one promotion all weekend. Mention Empty Bowls and you can paint one bowl for yourself and paint one (free) bowl for Empty Bowls.

Where/When
? Downtown Leesburg (N King St & E Market St, Leesburg, VA 20176) on Saturday, April 16 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.  and Sunday, April, 17 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Why go?
 Historic Leesburg will once again be in full bloom as lush landscapes and gorgeous gardens fill the streets.  Over 120 vendors will feature landscape designs, gardening supplies, outdoor living items, plants, flowers, herbs and more. Stroll through the streets and take in the sights and sounds of spring-time. Food, music and kid entertainment are part of the festival as well.
Pricing? 
$3 per person, under 5 admitted free


Where/When?
 Ellanor C. Lawrence Park, Walney Visitors Center (5040 Walney Road, Centreville)  on Sunday, April 17 at 1 p.m.
Why Go? 
After a brief slideshow about Virginia’s wildflowers, a  naturalist will lead a hike through a portion of the 650 acre park. Hikers will enjoy the captivating bluebells in the meadow and the other signs of spring. It is recommended that you bring a field guide and wear sturdy shoes.
Pricing?
 $6 for Fairfax County Residents, $8 for non-county residents.  Registration is required.
