How Cold Will It Be Thursday, First Full Day of Spring, in Northern Virginia?

Expect to see temperatures in 30s; wind chill will make it feel like 20s all day.

The calendar may say spring, but don't put that coat away quite yet. You're going to need it Thursday.

A cold front will sweep through Northern Virginia Thursday, bringing temperatures that, with the wind chill, will feel like it's in the 20s, according to local weather forecasters.

Northern Virginia residents will need warm coats to make it through the day, the first full day of spring, which arrived Wednesday morning at 7:02 a.m ET.

Thursday will be cloudy and cold, with temperatures ranging from 28 to 35 in the morning and 36 to 40 degrees in the afternoon.

"It is going to be a very cold day with wind chills in the 20s," NBC-4 meteorologist Doug Kammerer told viewers, during the 11 p.m. newscast.

Expect temperatures to warm up into the 40s Friday, low 50s Saturday and then back into the 40s Sunday, when a wintry mix could hit the area.
