Music Under the Stars and Super Science Saturday

Lots of options for the weekend in the Chantilly area.

Where/When? South Riding Town Green (43055 Center Street)  on Friday, July 8 at 7 p.m.

Why Go? More music under the stars! Open Waters plays everything, no genre is sacred, classic rock, oldies, Motown, funk, southern rock, new age, alternative, country old and new.  If you listen to their originals you will notice the combination in their music.

Pack some chairs or a blanket and bring a picnic dinner. Beer or wine is permitted just make sure to bring your ID and keep the drinks on the Town Green.

Where/When? on Saturday, July 9 at 2:30 p.m.

Why Go? Ever wonder about spies and how they do what they do? Linda McCarthy, a CIA veteran and expert on the spy craft, will reveal the secrets she’s allowed to tell.

Pricing? Free, but please register in person at the library, online or by calling 703.502.3883.

 

Where/When? on Saturday, July 9 and Sunday July 10

Why Go? This weekend at Sully focuses on World War II history  with Allied and Axis re-enactors for a weekend of demonstrations, memories, and music. Get an up-close look at what life was like for soldiers and civilians throughout the war and talk to them about their jobs, living quarters, food and life in the 1940s.

Pricing?  $8/adult, $6/senior and child or two day ticket $14/adult, $10/senior and child. Free to active duty military with ID and veterans.

 

Where/When? on Saturday, July 9 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Why Go? Another great Super Science Saturday, this month focusing on weather. Talk to the experts, take part in demonstrations, get up close and personal with the science at the best museum around.

Pricing? Free, but parking is $15.

 

Where/When? at the Walney Visitors Center on Sunday, July 10 at 10 a.m.

Why Go? Perhaps not an event with wide appeal, but if you love reptiles and would like to capture them on film, this is the program for you. Say “Beetle” for the best salamander smiles.
