National Weather Service Issues Advisory for Friday

Advisory could impact morning commute.

The National Weather Service on Thursday issued a freezing rain advisory, in effect from Friday at 3 a.m. to 9 a.m. that includes Fairfax County.

The NWS advisory notes that the area will see less than one-tenth of an inch of precipitation on the roads, ending by mid-morning. Temperatures will be below freezing until about 9 a.m. and untreated surfaces will be icy and slippery, particularly during the morning commute.

A freezing rain advisory means that periods of freezing rain or freezing drizzle will cause travel difficulties.

The NWS cautions drivers to use caution while driving.
