PHOTOS: Relay for Life

Held at Centreville High School, teams walked around through the night to raise money for cancer research.

was hosted June 4-5Β  at .Β  This year's participants enjoyed a perfect weather weekend spending hours walking to raise money for the American Cancer Society.Β  Teams walked non-stop from the Opening Ceremony at 4:30 p.m. on Saturday until the Closing Ceremony at 5:30 a.m. on Sunday.Β  The powerful Luminaria Ceremony was held Saturday evening around 9:30 p.m.

In addition to teams walking to raise money through pledges, there were raffles, services and food available for a donation to the Walk for Life Relay teams.Β  team raised an additional $1,000 for their team through the Kids Zone area featuring snow cones, popcorn, moonbounces, face-painting and games.

The Centreville Relay for Life raised over $132,000 for Cancer research at this year's event. Through the generosity of many, this Relay enjoyed the Highest Percentage Increase in the South Atlantic Division of the American Cancer Society Relay for Life.Β  Congratulations to the patients, survivors, family and friends who shared in reaching this amazing milestone.
