Weekend Planner: Ice Cream, HGTV and Clean Dogs for a Cause

Happenings this weekend, in and around Chantilly

 on Friday, July 15 from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.
Why Go? 
Dairy Days at Sully Historic Site gives you the whole picture of 18th century life: churning butter, playing typical games and, yes, cranking the ice cream maker for a sweet treat.

Where/When?
  on Friday, July 15 at 7:30 p.m.
Why Go? All kinds of interesting things come out at night. The Cub Run naturalist will help you find them. Bring a flashlight and hike the grounds to watch for bats, look for bugs and call for owls.

$5 for Fairfax County residents/$7 for non-residents (reservations required)

Where/When? , Walney Visitors Center amphitheatre (behind main building) on Saturday, July 16 at 10 a.m.
Why Go?
 A morning concert by the Fairfax Symphony to introduce the brass section.  Children will be invited to participate.

  on Sunday, July 17 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Why Go?
 Your sweet pup could use a bit of pampering – or at least a bath! Dogtopia will be ready to do the honors – and will donate the proceeds to various K-9 “units” from around the area, including Prince William County Police Unit, Virginia Search & Rescue Organization, Dogs East Search & Rescue, as well as the non-profit Hero Dogs Inc.  A great cause and your best friend comes home smelling a lot better!

Stone Ridge Townhomes on Sunday, July 17 from 12 p.m. to 3 p.m.
Why Go?
The public is invited to judge two model homes participating in an interior design competition for a new HGTV series. The event kicks off with a block party for the guests.
