Family Fest/Aldie Day at the Church of Our Redeemer

Aldie, VA – Celebrate fall at the annual Aldie Harvest Festival on Saturday October 15 from 9am-5pm. The Church of Our Redeemer has worked closely with the newly established Aldie Heritage Association to reinvigorate the traditional event. Everyone involved was greatly excited when they received Visit Loudoun’s “Best Event” award in 2010.  Rev. John Sheehan notes that “Aldie Day has become a true collaboration between the village residents, businesses and non profits. We had a few years when we weren’t sure how to proceed but things came to together for our bicentennial last year.”This year’s event promises even more excitement centered on the Village’s eclectic stores, new attractions and unique vendors.

Rev. Sheehan is celebrating his 10th year as Our Redeemers’ first full time rector.  Their traditional Family Festival includes moon bounces, face painting, pony rides, crafts and the renowned Redeemer Red Hots.  This year the church has renewed its commitment to be involved in local groups that touch underserved populations in their region. During a prolonged economic recovery, benefits can expire and whole families depend on local groups to sustain them. The church attracts many families because of its personal size and focus on serving the community.  Rev. Sheehan notes "that all ages and their friends cherish the time to work together to benefit others.” Again this year the proceeds will be donated to nonprofit organizations including the Seven Loaves Food Bank.

The Aldie Harvest Festival includes live music, unique crafts, fresh foods and baked goods. Dozens of artisans will exhibit and demonstrate traditional skills. History buffs will learn about Adie’s role in the Civil war and can watch the Mill grind grain using its water powered wheels. http://www.villageofaldie.com/businesses.htm
