Just in Time for Redskins Games: Chicken Wings at McDonald's

Football party staple will pop onto the menu as the football season begins.

Just in time for football season, McDonald's will soon be adding something new to its menu — chicken wings, according to a report in USA Today and other news outlets.

A staple at football-watching parties, chicken wings will go on the menu nationwide (after successful try-outs in Atlanta and Chicago) beginning Sept. 9, according to numerous press reports. That will be just in time for fans to pick up some wings for the Washington Redskins first game of the season against the Philadelphia Eagles.

Starting at $2.99, you'll be able to order the new menu item, dubbed "Mighty Wings," in orders of three, five or 10 pieces, with a choice of nine sauces:  Creamy Ranch, Honey, Barbecue, Hot Mustard, Honey Mustard, Chipotle Barbecue, Sweet Chili, Sweet 'N Sour or Spicy Buffalo.

The food item may not be something you want to feed to children. USA Today reports the restaurant will use traditional chicken wing "hot" spices to add some heat to the chicken: Cayenne and chili pepper.

The new Mighty Wings will only be sold through November.
