'The Bert Show' is Out at DC-Area Radio Station WRQX/107.3-FM

Radio station saw ratings drop after longtime morning host Jack Diamond left the air.

Cumulus Media, owners of WRQX/107.3-FM, have apparently dropped "The Bert Show" from the DC station's morning line-up.

The station lost listeners after unceremoniously dropping longtime morning host Jack Diamond last year, after 24 years, and replacing him with its syndicated show out of Atlanta.

The two programs were like night and day, with Diamond a mainstay in the DC market, discussing local events and family matters, while "The Bert Show" offered crude jokes and cash for listening. Jack Diamond fans, on Diamond's Facebook page, said they were tuning out.

Now that "The Bert Show" is gone, the station has replaced the program in the morning drive slot with "Marco."

Here is what Marco has to say, on 107.3's Web site:

Hola! It's awesome to be back in the DMV... I grew up in Clarksville...went to Atholton High School in Columbia, until my parents figured out that I looked at High School as pre-party for College... then I was sent to Chapelgate Christian Academy, in Marriottsville (See what my parents did)... I was part of the first graduating class there... 16 of us. I know, I know.

I'm The biggest Redskins fan in DC... it's just a fact. I have the 'Skins tat, my dogs are named Cooley and Joe, and my 2 sons' middle names are Gibbs and Riggins (told ya). My wife Melissa says I'm obsessive over The Redskins, she's probably right, but oh well. We have 4 kids and enjoy long walks through the ghetto (I mean, I'm just tired of hearing about everyone's walks on the beach)

I LOVE spicy food, Vodka and Dogs!

What do you love?

Meanwhile, Diamond's fans are hanging in there, hoping their favorite radio host will take to the airwaves again. A recent post by Diamond had his fans hoping:

"Everyday this week, I have been wide awake at 3:30am. Here we are again. And today, I picked up my truck keys. Tomorrow, if I grab my keys and my headphones, gotta be a sign. Right?"

Two of the latest rumors have Diamond returning to the radio, on 97.1-FM or in an online format.
