Wawa Finally Becoming Reality in Chantilly?

Board of Supervisors set to take a vote on project July 1, according to Washington Business Journal.

Is Chantilly finally getting closer to getting its very own Wawa store? We first heard the rumor practically a year ago.

But now, Fairfax County planners are set to vote on making it a reality, according to a recent report by Washington Business Journal.

Construction is set to begin as soon as the company gets through the red tape, after the Board of Supervisors vote July 1, WBJ reports. A 6.36-acre site for the store, along with a Chick-fil-A and other businesses, is adjacent to the 2.4 million-square-foot Dulles Discovery North and South office complexes, and just east of the Smithsonian Institution’s Steven F. Udvar-Hazy Center.

No timeline for a grand opening is yet in place. As of now, Wawa does not list Chantilly under its "coming soon" locations.

Here are some fun facts to know about the uber-popular store:
On Buzzfeed, among the "22 reasons Wawa is the greatest gas station in existence," are these gems:

  • Wawa is so clean, you can see your reflection in the floors.
  • Wawa coffee is so good, they package their own blend.
  • Wawa is an Ojibwe Indian word for Canada Goose, which is their mascot.
  • Because Wawa still has its own dairy (its roots go back 100 years to a Pennsylvania dairy), it has amazing dairy products — like its own ice cream!
