Chantilly Academy GymStars Level 7 State Meet Medalists

This past weekend, gymnasts from Chantilly Academy GymStars Gymnastics competed with over 500 gymnasts from around the state at the Level 6 & 7 Virginia USA Gymnastics State Championships held in Hampton, VA at the Boo Williams Sportsplex. 

The CA GymStars competing in the Level 7 State Championship were Dorothy Cervarich of Centreville, Isabella DeCroo of Warrenton, Katarina and Stephanie Jones of Herndon, Brenna Lawrence of Chantilly, Rose McLaughlin of Sterling, Julia Pioso of Clifton, and Madison Smith of Gainesville. The Level 7s competed on Saturday and three GymStars had finishes in the top three.  Rose McLaughlin was the State Vault Champion in the 12 Sr. group.  Sisters Katarina and Stephanie Jones had strong floor routines; Katarina placed second in the 15-year-old group and Stephanie was the State Co-Champion in the 13 Jr. group.  Other GymStar Level 7 State qualifiers, who were injured and could not compete, included Hanna Cook, Olivia Kielb, Ashlynn Marlin, Emma Nocera, Jenna Shuey, and Lindsay Wilson.

On Sunday, the Level 6 GymStars competed in their State Championship meet.  The CA GymStars Level 6 State qualifiers were Libby Ashworth of Clifton, Lily Chireix of Oakton, Anastasia Durning of Centreville, Darrian Kapinos of Sterling, and Cara Fragala, Katie MacDonald and Alexis Vicchio of South Riding.  They all represented the GymStars and Northern VA with pride!

Upcoming meets for the GymStars include the Level 9 Region 7 Championships in Collegeville, PA on April 13th & 14th. The Levels 4 and 5 GymStars will compete in the VAUSAG Level 4 & 5 Multi Level Sectional in Chesapeake, VA on the same weekend.  Then on April 27th & 28th the Level 5 GymStars will travel to Virginia Beach for the Level 5 Virginia USA Gymnastics State Championships and the Level 8 Region 7 Championships will be held in Landover, MD.
