How can I correct my overbite without the discomfort of traditional metal braces?

Do you have an overbite that you've wanted to get corrected, but haven't been interested in traditional braces? You're not alone as metal braces can present significant discomfort, and they aren't very convenient for active adults today. Fortunately, our dental office serving Chantilly offers a clear wireless solution with Invisalign.

An overbite occurs when genetics, jawbone overdevelopment or poor oral habits cause your upper teeth to bite over your lower teeth. This can cause problems like excessive wear on the jaw's lower teeth, painful joint and jaw problems and irritation.

In the past, braces were the go-to solution for an overbite. While they may correct an overbite, the clunky mouth hardware also comes with wires and brackets that irritate and poke the mouth, and they require a high level of maintenance. Bushing and flossing are more difficult with braces, wearers have to avoid many of their favorite foods, and having a “metal mouth” can make wearers feel extra self-conscious about their smiles.

Luckily, old-fashioned braces have been replaced with Invisalign, the modern, cutting-edge treatment for overbites and other dental issues, like gapped or overly crowded teeth.

Invisalign is virtually invisible in your mouth, easy to clean, smooth, comfortable and has a minimal interference on how you live your life. You can enjoy your favorite foods, smile with confidence and never feel self-conscious about your teeth again.

Even the most severe overbites can be treated with Invisalign. Your treatment begins with an initial consultation, then your dentist will take impressions, X-rays and pictures of your teeth. Invisalign creates a 3-D image of your mouth, then your dentist creates a precise treatment plan that addresses your specific needs. The smooth, comfortable, custom-made aligners gently adjust your teeth gradually over time to give you the smile you have always wanted and improved overall oral health.
