This Week's Weather: Soggy Start; Sunshine Midweek

Chance for wintry mix Monday morning; sunshine returns Wednesday, according to the National Weather Service.

This week's weather starts out soggy in Northern Virginia with a chance of a wintry mix forecast by the National Weather Service, which could affect the Monday morning commute.

Monday starts out with a 90 percent chance of precipitation, with possible snow until about 1 p.m., then changing to possible rain and snow, ending by 10 p.m., according to the National Weather Service. NWS forecasters predict 1 to 2 inches of snow. Expect highs near 36 degrees Monday.

Tuesday will be mainly cloudy, warming up to about 43 degrees for a high, with a 20 percent chance of rain. Expect wind gusts up to 20 MPH.

The sunshine returns on Wednesday, with a high near 46. Temperatures dip below freezing Wednesday night to 30 degrees, according to the NWS.

Thursday is expected to be a repeat of Wednesday with sunny skies and a high of 46 degrees.

The week's weather gets even better heading into the weekend, with sunny skies forecast and temperatures climbing into the 50s, with an expected high of 50 degrees Friday and 56 degrees on Saturday.
