Fairfax Partnership for Youth Launches Bullying Prevention Training Program
Fairfax Partnership for Youth, Inc. will launch its new community-based program, Bully-Free NoVa: A Community of Respect. The launch reception will take place on November 13, 2012, at the James Lee Community Center, 2855 Annandale Road #101, Falls Church, VA 22042, from 5:00 p.m. – 6:30 p.m.
FPY’s bullying prevention training team will provide an overview of the new bullying awareness and prevention program. All community supporters of the anti-bullying movement should attend this free event.
Youth report that they are bullying and being bullied now more than ever before. All youth are vulnerable, but those with special needs, racial/ethnic minorities, and LGBT youth are at even greater risk. The social and emotional effects of chronic bullying, including cyberbullying, can be lasting and devastating for individuals, families, and the entire community.
People who are bullied in the workplace have higher rates of depression, anxiety, low self-esteem, health problems, poor job and/or school performance and suicidal thoughts. Workplace bullying and harassment increases the work load on mental health providers, raises insurance rates and cost of health care, and emotionally takes a toll on families, friends, and colleagues in the work place.
Launch reception attendees will learn:
The basics of FPY’s program approach
How to get their community-based organization or business involved
How to support and be a part of this ongoing initiative
Participants can register at www.fairfaxyouth.org for free.
