ServiceSource's Chantilly Center Open House

New Disability Resource Center Opens in Chantilly

ServiceSource, a local disability resource nonprofit, has announced the opening of a new habilitation program for individuals with disabilities in Western Fairfax County. ServiceSource opened the Chantilly Center in response to an increased need to serve people with disabilities in western Fairfax County.  The program is a model of a successful public-private partnership - the center was made possible by $2 million in private investment, and core services for participants are funded by Fairfax County.

Many of the participants in ServiceSource habilitation programs have significant disabilities and are nonverbal. The new center was specifically designed for accessibility, safety and privacy and has new equipment for physical therapy and caretaking. Additionally, an innovative sensory perception room is  being designed and installed to encourage stimulation through touch, sound and sight. Thirty participants have already enrolled at ServiceSource in Chantilly and more individuals are expected as they graduate from Fairfax County public schools in the area, with a maximum capacity of 75 to 80 participants. Family members of program participants say they love the site and are seeing benefits for their loved one with disabilities. Sue Mobley, mother of Dawn, said: “Dawn has grown exponentially since being at ServiceSource in Chantilly, she has absolutely blossomed.”
