Chantilly High Sports Review

Welcome to the first post of the Chantilly High School Sports Blog. This blog discusses the schedules, statistics and other news of the different Chantilly teams this fall.

Welcome to the Chantilly High School sports blog. You will be able to find information on each team during the season, statistics, playoffs and breaking news.

Football (5-2) - Last Week, the football team suffered a devastating loss to Concorde District rival Oakton by a score of 21-14. Down 21-7 entering the fourth quarter, the Chargers started a comeback with a touchdown pass from quarterback Sonny Romine to wideout Jimmy Hicks for 30 yards, cutting Oakton's lead to 21-14. However, the Chargers lost on the last drive, failing to get another touchdown and losing the ball on a fumble. This week, the Chargers square off against the second-ranked team in Post Top 20, the Centreville Wildcats. Last year, the Chargers beat the Wildcats in a thrilling district playoff game.

Volleyball (12-7) - On Monday, the volleyball team, down two sets, came back to beat Flint Hill in a game that lasted two and a half hours. The Chargers won those three sets by scores of 25-16, 25-22 and 15-13. Tomorrow, the Chargers face off against Robinson, who are 8-10.

Field Hockey (7-7) - The Chantilly field hockey team began their district playoffs this week with a win against the Herndon Hornets by a score of 2-0. The goals were scored by senior Jenna Scherbenksi and junior Victoria Tickle.

Golf - The golf team finished an outstanding year this fall. Led by co-captains Steve Aanstoos and Jack Dargle, the team had an undefeated season in Concorde District play, propelling them to win the district. Also, the team finished in 2nd place in the state championship. At the end of the season, the Chargers finished with a record of 106-14.

Cross Country - The cross country team has been having an excellent season as well. Juniors Sean McGorty and Logan Miller have been running circles around opponents this season. At the Bull Run invitational on September 24th, McGorty set the third fastest time in the track history with a time of 15:53. Miller finished in a close second with the very speedy time of 16:34. The Cross Country team will compete in the Concorde District Championships on October 27.
