Izzy Update: Life With Her New Foster Family

Izzy is a sweet, four-year-old, 30 pound pup who was rescued from a life on a chain. This resilient girl is very gentle, and is quickly learning how to be part of an active, loving family.

Two months ago we featured who was rescued from spending her life on the end of a chain, living outside in the elements, and never truly experiencing the love of a family.

When we first met Izzy, she was very timid, and everything in the world was scary and brand new to her. She hadn’t been exposed to everyday life or socialized with people. She had never lived in a home, slept on a bed, walked up a flight of stairs, or even had the basic security of shelter. In the short time since then, Izzy has come such a long way, and is a true testament to the resilience and spirit of dogs.

Izzy now lives with a wonderful foster family in Kensington, MD that includes a mom, a dad, two kids, and two black labs that she is learning to play and goof around with. She follows her foster mom around everywhere, and is learning how to be part of a family. She loves the outdoors and taking long walks with her foster family, and when she’s home, she either hangs out in her own doggie bed or takes over one from her pup siblings... but they don't mind; she’s part of the pack now.

Izzy’s foster mom has been diligently working with her to establish trust and bring Izzy out of her shell. She now hangs out on the couch with her foster mom to watch TV, and especially likes to cuddle with her in the mornings. Her foster mom describes Izzy as “an easy, go-with-the flow kind of girl. She is very smart, gentle, and just so cute. ” Izzy was house-broken on day one, and has not had a single accident. She walks great on a leash now, gets along well with other dogs, and rarely barks.

Izzy is still timid around new people, and it will take her time to trust, but she has discovered that there are good people in the world who will give her treats and back rubs in the morning, and love her as part of their family. Mutts Matter thinks she would do well in a family with another dog, which will help her adjust more quickly and build her confidence.

What Izzy needs most is a patient, loving family who will give her some time to settle in, and will make her a special part of their lives. Do you have room in your heart and home for this sweet and gentle girl?
