Award winning Northern Virginia Robotics team competing for Global Innovation Award.

STEM Excellence. That’s what defines students from Rocky Run Middle School and Greenbriar West who built an app for Senior Citizens  to help prevent hospitalizations, by improving medication adherence. Poor medication adherence is the leading cause of hospitalization among senior citizens in the United States.

The App is part of the Award winning project that team 4426, the X-BOTS worked on for “Senior Solutions” Challenge of 2012, for which they interacted with several seniors and volunteered at senior centers, and senior living, learning what their main challengers are, and came up with innovative ideas to solve this problem. The free app MedAssist is available on Google Play store.

The students are asking for the community to help them win FLL Global Innovation Award, for which voting is open until March 1. In 2 days since the voting opened, the team received over 4000 votes with no publicity, so with your help team is hoping to push forward. Will you help your community FLL team? If you are at RRMS, GBW or Bull Run, you may know them because of their public service and sharing, and education of STEM programs. The team also participated in FTC, and is advancing to state Championships on March 2nd.
