Beloved Westfield High Coach Francis Dall Dies at 58

Francis Dall, former coach and administrator for the Fairfax County School system, passed away.

Former Westfield High School administrator and football coach Francis Dall died Wednesday. He was 58 years old.

Mr. Dall lived in Chantilly and started working at the Fairfax County Public School system in 1982. He went on to work at Herndon High School, Fairfax High School, and Lake Braddock Secondary School.

In 2011, he was given the Virginia High School League’s Torch of Honor, according to a an announcement made by Fairfax County Public Schools at that time. The honor is given to those athletic administrators who go “above and beyond the call of duty.”

Mr. Dall had led his teams to earning district, regional, and state championships in his time as administrator and coach.

“He’s the best high school coach I know, and he was just as good of an athletics director. Everyone had a tremendous amount of respect for how he ran things.” Flint Hill football Coach Tom Verbanic told the Washington Post. He had coached under Dall at Fairfax.

Friends and family also left condolences for Mr. Dall on his online obituary page from the Fairfax Memorial Funeral Home. Friends called him a “great role model” and a “tremendous teacher, coach, and leader of men.”

Mr. Dall’s visitation service will take place from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday at the Fairfax Memorial Funeral Home on 9902 Braddock Road in Fairfax. His funeral service takes place at 2 p.m. Sunday at the King of Kings Lutheran Church on 4025 Kings Way. More information
