Centreville Man Dies in Fiery Crash in Chantilly

Man's truck hit stopped tractor-trailer Monday at red light at Route 28 and Interstate 66.

George Tabash, 27, of Centreville was killed early Monday morning after the truck he was driving slammed into the back of a tractor-trailer stopped at a red light at Sully Road/Route 28 and Interstate 66 in Chantilly, according to a news release from Fairfax County Police.

Police did not say in which direction the vehicles were headed.

The crash occurred at about 1:45 a.m. Monday. Tabash's 2007 Chevy Avalanche pickup truck erupted into flames and he died at the scene, police said.

The 44-year-old man driving the tractor-trailer, from Pennsylvania, was not hurt in the crash, according to police.

Detectives have not yet determined whether speed or alcohol are factors in the crash and the investigation is continuing.
