Fair Oaks District Police Report: iPhone Scam

A summary of incidents reported for June 9-15.

For the week ending on June 15, there was one major incident, 14 larcenies and one vehicle theft included in the Fair Oaks District Activity Report.  

Major Incident 

  • FINANCIAL SCAM/LARCENY: On Wednesday, June 15 around 3 p.m. a 26-year-old man reported that he was scammed out of a large sum of money. The victim reportedly made arrangements to meet a man at Reston Towne Center to purchase 100 new iPhones. The two met and the suspect drove the victim to a parking garage in the 3900 block of Fair Ridge Drive. The victim gave the suspect money and the suspect left to reportedly get the phones. He never returned. The suspect was described as Asian, 25 to 30 years old. He was about 5 feet 7 inches to 5 feet 10 inches tall with black hair. He was driving a green four-door Jaguar.

  • 9900 block of Barnsbury Court: Cash stolen from residence
  • 9500 block of Blake Lane: Twelve-pack of beer stolen from business
  • 9500 block of Blake Lane: Fifteen cartons of cigarettes stolen from business
  • 3700 block of Broomsedge Court: License plates stolen from vehicle
  • 2600 block of Five Oaks Road: Bicycle stolen from residence
  • 3900 block of Golf Tee court: Tools stolen from vehicle
  • 12000 block of Government Center Parkway: Wallets and purse stolen from vehicle
  • 12300 block of Lee Jackson Memorial Highway: License plate stolen from vehicle
  • 12400 block of Lee Jackson Memorial Highway: Wallet stolen from church
  • 12500 block of Loston Circle: Airbag stolen from vehicle
  • 9600 block of Nonquitt Drive: Diamond necklace stolen from residence
  • 11400 block of Random Hills Road: Computer and GPS unit stolen from vehicle
  • 3200 block of Sweetmeadow Court: Bicycle stolen from residence
  • 9400 block of Virginia Center Boulevard: Jewelry stolen from residence 

Vehicle Theft 

  • 4400 block of Dixie Hill Road: 2001 Volkswagen Jetta
