Alleged Motorcycle Racing Friday Night Leads to Reckless Driving Charge on Stringfellow Road

One motorcyclist was charged, the other driver sped away from the scene Friday in Chantilly.

A Reston motorcylist was charged with reckless driving Friday night at about 7:20 p.m. at Brandy Station Road and Stringfellow Road in Chantilly. The driver, Shane Hannegan, 34, was allegedly speeding with another cyclist when a police officer attempted to make a traffic stop.

The other motorcyclist did not stop and sped away, according to Fairfax County Police.

  • A man was charged with assault Sunday morning at 5 a.m. on Pender Creek Circle after he threw a tow truck strap at a tow truck driver. The driver was attempting to tow a vehicle that belonged to a friend of the suspect's when the two got into an argument, police reported.
  • Cell phones were stolen from a business located in the 13000 block of Lee Jackson Memorial Highway in Chantilly, according to police. No date was given of when the crime occurred.
