Sully District Police Report: Centreville Teen Charged With Murdering Father

A summary of incidents reported for May 26-June 1.

For the week ending on June 1, there were three major incidents, nine larcenies, and one vehicle theft reported in the Sully District.  

Major Incidents 

  • *HOMICIDE/ARREST: Police are investigating an apparent domestic-related homicide. Gbassay Koroma, 18, of 5108 Woodmere Drive #102 in Centreville, was charged with murder after allegedly stabbing his father, Francis Koroma, to death in their home around 10:55 p.m. on Friday, May 27.   • *SOBRIETY CHECKPOINT: Fairfax County police officers from around the county conducted a sobriety checkpoint to deter and apprehend intoxicated drivers on Friday, May 27 from 8 p.m. until 11 p.m. All motorists were stopped and drivers were checked to assure that their abilities to drive had not been impaired by alcohol or drugs. Approximately 688 motorists passed through the checkpoint in the northbound lanes of Route 29 near the intersection of Bull Run Post Office Road. One arrest was made for DWI; eight summonses were issued for miscellaneous traffic offenses, and two people were charged with minor criminal offenses. Ten auxiliary officers and eight police officers participated in this operation. 
  • BURGLARY/GRAND LARCENY/ARREST: Police arrested a man for burglarizing an acquaintance’s home in the 14700 block of Wycombe Street on two occasions and stealing money from inside. Cuong M. Hyunh, 18, of 14727 Wycombe Street in Centreville, was charged with two counts of burglary and two counts of grand larceny, for incidents that occurred on February 16 and May 28.

  • 12300 block of Henderson Road: Camera and laptop computer stolen from vehicle
  • 14900 block of Lampec Street: Purse stolen from vehicle
  • 5800 block of Ottawa Road: GPS stolen from vehicle
  • 5600 block of Ox Road: Bag stolen from business
  • 13700 block of Royal Red Terrace: iPod stolen from business
  • 12100 block of Sangsters Court: Gold necklace, iPhone, boots, bracelet, and ring stolen from residence
  • 6100 block of Stonepath Circle: Prescription medication stolen from residence
  • 6500 block of White Post Road: Wallet stolen from vehicle 

Vehicle Theft 

  • 5300 block of Wharton Park Court: 2009 Hyundai Vera Cruz
