Allen, Obama Ahead In Chantilly Money Race

A look at who's giving, who's getting campaign dollars during 2012 election season

Political donations from Chantilly show residents going "red" in Virginia's Senate race and "blue" in the bid for president with less than two months to go until November's elections.

Republican George Allen and President Barack Obama outpace opponents Tim Kaine (D) and former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney (R) in their respective races, earning twice as much financial backing from Chantilly residents so far this election season.

Based on public Federal Election Commission records from the Center for Responsive Politics, residents across Chantilly's two zip codes have donated $25,577 to Obama's campaign — more than double than the $11,750 the area has contributed to Romney.
