By the Numbers: Allen Wins in Chantilly

U.S. Senate Candidate George Allen won with about 65 percent of voters in Chantilly precincts.

About 65 percent of voters in Chantilly precincts gave their support to former Virginia Governor and U.S. Senate Candidate George Allen during Tuesday's Republican primary.
Allen, who will now face Tim Kaine (D) in November, also won Fairfax County with about 65.4 percent of the vote.
The win came despite a low voter turnout in Fairfax County and across Virginia: fewer than 5.1 percent of active voters statewide cast ballots on Tuesday. In Fairfax County, the average was about 5.4 percent.

The turnout was only slightly higher than the state and county averages  for March's Republican Presidential Primary.
