Fairfax County Animal Shelter Waives Adoption Fees for These Pets

The shelter is also offering discounted adoption fees Thursday on rabbits.

Many shoppers on Thursday will be looking for after-Christmas deals. But instead of going to a shopping mall, you could make plans to head to the Fairfax County Animal Shelter, where they'll be offering some "hot deals" on pet adoption fees.

Thursday only: A $5 adoption fees on all rabbits (it's usually $15), rats, and mice and an even better deal — the shelter is waiving adoption fees on all guinea pigs through Jan. 15. The shelter says to stop in and "Pick out your perfect pocket pet when we open tomorrow (Thursday) at noon!"

You can see photos of all adoptable pets at the shelter here.

The shelter is also asking anyone getting rid of gift boxes from the holidays to drop them off at the shelter. "We'll use them to make enrichment toys for cats, dogs, and small animals. You can drop them off anytime we're open."

The shelter is located at 4500 W. Ox Road. Hours are noon to 7 p.m., Tuesday through Friday and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturdays. The shelter is closed Sundays and Mondays.
