Ask an Expert - Udvar-Hazy Center

The SNARK was an air-breathing, subsonic, unpiloted jet, which was intended to deliver a nuclear warhead to targets across the Atlantic. The system was deployed in the 1950s but was never very reliable; however its automatic guidance and navigation system broke new ground in guidance technology, which led to reliable and accurate automatic systems in aircraft (including the SR-71 Blackbird and missiles in the decades that followed.

The Ask An Expert lecture series at the Steven F. Udvar-Hazy Center is presented every 2nd and 4th Thursday at 12:30 PM. A Museum staff member talks to the public about the history, collection, or personalities related to a specific artifact or exhibition in the Museum.
