Freedom Seniors Graduate at Patriot Center

The Class of 2011, along with family and friends, attended its commencement ceremony Friday.

Class of 2011 gathered at the to receive their diplomas Friday evening. 

After opening remarks and a performance of the Dirty Dancing classic, "I've Had the Time of My Life" by Freedom's Chamber Choir, Valedictorian Nicholas Louis Montgomery took the stage. 

Montgomery joked that he woke up that morning singing Rebecca Black's infamous "Friday" after realizing graduation day had arrived.

J. Hamilton Lambert, the commencent speaker, then addressed the graduates. He told the crowd, "You'll find out you're not as pretty and perfect as you thought...You'll make mistakes. Just don't repeat them."

Lambert advised the graduates that they will experience a myriad of emotions as they grown into adulthood, but they must force themselves to be happy.

"Sadness and depression does nothing but weaken you," added Lambert. "Stay strong."

He also encouraged the graduates to make the best of opportunities and treat people with respect. 

In reference to their parents, Lambert said, "You'll find as you get older, they'll get smarter."
