Montessori of Chantilly Makes Generous Donation to Fairfax County Sheriff's Office

The donation will ultimately benefit homeless children in Fairfax County

recently donated $1,000 to the Fairfax County Sheriff's Office program, . 

Deepa Simlot, the director of the school, said that every year the Kindergarten students create art projects to raise money for a charity.  This year, the art was auctioned off during a special presentation for parents on June 10. 

“As Montessori of Chantilly families, we see the importance of education for all children,” said Assistant Director Lisa Turner.  “By bidding on and purchasing our student’s artwork, our school families have the opportunity to help underprivileged children in our community succeed in school.  We think this is a great occasion to show our students how important it is to be a positive member of the community in which we live and learn.”

The kids created four paintings based on the work of Picasso, Monet, Van Gogh and one of their art teachers, Laura Fisch.  The artwork was bought by parents Dena & Samir Shah and Kumud & Chirdeep Sharma.  Turner also purchased one of the paintings.
