Registration Now Open for Summer Driver's Ed at FCPS Schools

Driver education is available for students in grades 9-12.

Yes the weather is freezing but summer vacation will be here before you know it.

Registration is now open, as of Friday, for the following Fairfax County Public Schools (FCPS) summer programs: Adult and Community Education (ACE) Camps, Enrichment, and Test Prep; ACE Driver Education; and the new West Springfield High School Extended Day ACE Enrichment program. 

General information and links to individual programs and registration are available online. Students should register for programs based on the grade they are in during the current 2013-14 school year. Details on each program are as follows:

  • Adult and Community Education (ACE) Camps, Enrichment, and Test Prep – Programs include Thomas Jefferson High School for Science and Technology (TJHSST) admissions test prep, SAT test prep, and study skills. Held at various locations.
  • ACE Driver Education – For students in grades 9-12. Classes include Behind the Wheel Driver Training; Classroom Driver Training; Partners for Safe Teen Driving, a required parent/teen traffic safety presentation scheduled for Tuesday, July 22, from 6-7:30 p.m.; and Practice for New Drivers, for students with little or no driving experience to learn the basics of car handling in the safety of a school parking lot with the expertise of a certified teacher. 
  • West Springfield Extended Day Adult and Community Education (ACE) Enrichment – Classes including Effective Study Skills, Young Writers Workshop, and Chess Tips and Strategies for Teens, will be held for students in grades 9-11 at West Springfield High School, beginning after the academic programs have finished for the day.
