Charger coach Jim Smith wins 400th career game.

Girls’ Basketball:

Three free throws proved to be the difference in Chantilly’s (12-8, 4-4 District)  59-56 overtime win against Herndon on Friday, Feb. 3. Lauren Mashinski made a free throw with seconds left in regulation to tie the contest while Lauren Yates drained two free throws in overtime to bury the Hornets for good. Four Chargers (Lauren Mashinski, Katrina Hutzell, Allison Rowe and Yates) scored in double digits as Mashinski led the team with 15 points.

Chantilly travels to Robinson on Tuesday, Feb. 7 before the team’s regular season finale at home against Centreville on Friday, Feb. 10.

Boys’ Basketball:

Chantilly (9-8, 3-5 District) head coach Jim Smith earned his 400th career win on Thursday, Feb. 2 as Chantilly defeated Herndon 69-63. The win puts Smith into elite territory as only five Northern Region coaches in the history of the region have won more games.

Brian Sydnor scored a team-high 23 points and Deandre Harris added 13. The Chargers host Robinson on Tuesday, Feb. 7 and close out the regular season on the road at Centreville on Friday, Feb. 10.

Wrestling:

Chantilly grapplers defeated wrestlers from McLean, Stonebridge, Jefferson, Stonewall Jackson and Gar-field on Saturday, Jan. 28, outscoring them 288-98. Charger wrestlers Logan Barr, Ian Shircliff, Kyle Smith, Walt Carlson and Ali Nadri went undefeated in the meet and 14 Chantilly wrestlers participated in the event.

The Concorde District tournament was held Feb. 3-4 but results were not yet available.
