Chargers Ride Lawler, Offense to Season-Opening Win

Lawler tosses five shutout innings in Chantilly romp.

For the Edison baseball team, the weather wasn’t the only thing that was cold on Tuesday. The Eagles gave up 10 runs on the night and failed to cross home, as Chantilly won 10-0.

Walks and errors plagued the Eagles, allowing Chantilly to capitalize and take full advantage of their miscues. In addition to Edison’s fielding woes, Chantilly batters connected for 11 hits.

While the Edison pitchers struggled on the evening, Chantilly’s pitchers turned in stellar performances. Charger starting pitcher Dan Lawler tossed five shutout innings, striking out nine while allowing just five hits. Chantilly’s bullpen assisted Lawler in getting the win as Chris Fraser and Brett Riddle held the Eagles hitless and scoreless.
