NRA First Steps Pistol and Into to Concealed Carry

The course provides a thorough introduction to firearms safety and handling. The initial four hours of classroom instruction includes: NRA policies for safe gun handling, pistol parts and operation, types of ammunition, shooting fundamentals, cleaning and continued skill development opportunities. The NRA Basics of Pistol Shooting handbook, NRA Gun Safety Rules brochure, Winchester / NRA Marksmanship Qualification booklet, and a First Steps course completion certificate are provided to each attendee.

The course completion certificate is an acceptable training verification that may be used to obtain a Virginia resident / non-resident concealed carry permit.

There is an additional two hours of lecture following the First Steps Orientation designed to provide students with an initial introduction to concealed carry techniques and the applicable Virginia laws. The lecture includes: Use of deadly force, holster types, situational awareness, legal ramifications, “What If” scenarios and clothing selection. (Note: This 2 hour lecture is designed by IDS, llc instructors and is not part of the NRA approved First Steps Pistol Orientation course.)

Cost for class is $125 and is payable in advance to reserve your seat. The class is limited to 12 students. If you do not own a firearm, one will be provided for you.

Classroom: 6 Hours

Classroom 8:30 am - 2:30 pm

Range Time is the Sunday morning, the day after the course. Shooting starts at 7am prompt, please try and arrive 10 minutes early so that we can begin at 7am

(Note: Students are advised to bring a snack with them as there will not be a formal break for lunch.)
