PHOTOS: Chantilly's Defense Snaps Stone Bridge's Streak

Chargers come back by capitalizing on five interceptions.

Chantilly's defensive secondary may have already established themselves as the best unit in the Northern Region. After their performance against Stone Bridge, which led to the 22-14 win, it will be hard to find any naysayers.

The Chargers (2-0) swindled Stone Bridge's (1-1) high-powered offense by intercepting five passes in a non-conference
win on Saturday. The loss marks the Bulldogs' third regular season defeat since 2007 and snaps a 15-game regular season win streak.

After trailing by 11 points in the second half, Chantilly senior Daniel Decenzo capped the Chargers' rally with a 25-yard interception return for a touchdown late in the fourth quarter.

It wasn't just that Chantilly intercepted five passes, but it was against quarterback Ryan Burns, who was nominated by CBS Sports MaxPreps as one of five high school junior quarterbacks to watch in the entire nation.

Things looked good for Stone Bridge and Burns when the blue-chip recruit found senior wide receiver Stan Johnson on a 15-yard touchdown pass to take a 7-0 lead early in the first quarter. Johnson had five receptions for 150 yards, but Chantilly's defense stopped everyone else. The Bulldogs took a 14-3 lead early in the third quarter off a 1-yard fullback dive to Stephen Trivieri.

Then Chantilly's talented defense rose up to the occasion.

The Chargers defense came up with a safety to inch within 14-5. They followed up the safety with a 47-yard field goal from senior place kicker Billy Germain to cut Stone Bridge's lead to 14-8. Senior tailback Will Hill-Pensamiento scored on a 1-yard touchdown run to give
the Chargers their first lead of the game, 15-14.

Chantilly received a bulk of its offense from the passing tandem of junior quarterback Sonny Romine and senior receiver Caleb Reinhardt, who connected with each other six times for 105 yards.

Chantilly plays Friday at Langley (2-0).
