Congressman Frank Wolf recently announced the 10th Congressional District’s Class of 2016 appointments to the nation’s service academies. The following students from Westfield High School, all residents of the Centreville area, will attend military academies this fall: Robert Mason, an Oak Hill resident who attends Chantilly High School, will attend the U.S. Naval Academy.

Northern Virginia voters will choose among Democrats, Republicans and Independent candidates in congressional races come November.
UPDATE (3:45 p.m.) The State Board of Elections confirmed today that Chris DeCarlo and Mark Gibson, running in the 11th District, were verified with 1,000 signatures each earlier today. “I can’t thank everyone enough: Friends, friends of friends, neighbors, colleagues, and complete strangers,” Gibson said in a news release. “These are all voters who want to get involved in our political process, giving voters a greater number and more diverse selection of candidates for Congress. Getting on the ballot is a strong victory for democracy.” --- Independent candidates running for Congress had until June 12 to turn in 1,000 signatures to get on the ballot in November. Senior member of Virginia's 11 House members to chair the Commerce-Justice-Science Appropriations subcommittee
Virginia Congressman Frank Wolf (R-10), who is serving in his 16th term in Congress, will return as chairman of the Commerce-Justice-Science Appropriations subcommittee. He served as chairman from 2001 – 2006 and was the top Republican on the subcommittee in 2009 - 2010. According to Wolf's spokesman, Dan Scandling, "As chairman of the CJS subcommittee, Wolf will... focus on job creation by boosting American exports, bringing jobs back to the U.S. and rebuilding the manufacturing sector.
