Fairfax County Crime Solvers to Host Shred Event

Proceeds from the event will help Crime Solvers provide ways for members of the public to report crimes to the police.

Fairfax County Crime Solvers will host a shred event on Saturday, June 16th, from 9 a.m. to noon at the Sully District Police Station.  Crime Solvers invites members of the public to drive through the front parking lot and hand off bags or boxes of papers. Cornerstone Records Management, the sponsor of the event, will shred the papers. The suggested donation is $5 per bag or box.  Crime Solvers notes that shredding papers is a good way to prevent identity theft. Fairfax County Crime Solvers is a non-profit organization that provides anonymous ways for members of the public to report crimes and wanted people to police. Cash rewards are paid to tipsters whose information leads to an arrest or case closure.

New App Allows Users to Report Crimes

The technology is similar to current programs that allow users to text and email tips. However, the mobile app offers an extra advantage in that it has the ability to use GPS to auto-locate the nearest Crime Solvers program or law enforcement agency. Users may also manually select a location for their tip. Tipsters may also include photos and videos with their tips. Fairfax County Crime Solvers …
