There's still time to get a flu shot.
Due to increased flu activity, including high levels of influenza-like-illness, Inova hospitals have scheduled additional public flu vaccination clinics for Saturday. The vaccinations are recommended by the Center for Disease Control. Vaccinations are $30 each, and the hospital will vaccinate those 6 months and older.

Hospital curtails visitation hours, restricts visitors to those 18 and older.
The flu epidemic sweeping the country is definitely being felt in Northern Virginia, with hospital emergency rooms reporting a spike in patients coming in with flu-like symptoms. In the wake of the increase in flu cases in Northern Virginia, Inova hospitals are putting restrictions on visitors, the hospital system announced Friday. "As part of our vision to optimize the health and well-being of each individual we serve, Inova hospitals will be instituting specific visitation measures in response to continued regional Influenza infection," said spokesman Tony Raker, in the release. The new tower is part of a multi-year expansion project for the Inova medical campus.
Construction on the new South Tower at Inova Fairfax Hospital is now complete. The tower is phase one of a multi-year expansion project for the Inova Fairfax Medical Campus, which also includes planned renovations for a 12-story replacement tower for Inova Women’s Hospital and Inova Children’s Hospital in 2016. Inova Health Service will offer flu shots from noon til 2 p.m. Sept. 8 at the Chantilly Regional Library. Shots cost $30 or Medicare Part B is also accepted. Anyone obtaining a shot at the library must be 18 or older. According to Inova's website, people in the following groups are at highest risk and are encouraged to get a flu shot: Visit inova.org/flu or call 703-750-8818 for additional details.

Panel, citizens agree a higher salary is needed to attract the right candidate for an impossible job
"We’re not going to get somebody in here on Tony’s salary," said a constituent at Supervisor John Cook's Town Hall on Monday night. Fairfax County Executive Tony Griffin is scheduled to retire in April, and the Board of Supervisors has begun the process to replace him. According to Cook, Griffin currently earns about $240,000 a year. School superintendent Jack Dale earns about $320,000 a year, and many in the room said that discrepancy would need to be adjusted if the county wanted to attract top candidates for county executive.
