PHOTOS: A Happy Valentine's Day at Stone Middle School

A group of seventh-grade students stayed after school Wednesday to decorate fellow students' lockers for the special day.

Seventh-graders at Stone Middle School were in for a pleasant surprise on Valentine's Day. Fellow students Lily W., Kelly M. Raven R. and Lisa C. stayed after school Wednesday to decorate every single 7th-grade locker with Valentine’s candy and a Valentine note card. The students decided to decorate the lockers because “some kids hate Valentine’s Day because they do not get anything, so we wanted to give everyone candy for this Valentine’s Day so everyone can be happy.” Sweet!

Stone Middle School Team in Math Counts Chapter Competition

A total of 52 schools with over 430 kids competed across Northern Virginia.

Officer of the Quarter: Stone Middle School SRO Steve Lawson

Citizens Advisory Committee honors Lawson with award for his service.

PFC Steve Lawson, a school resource officer at Ormond Stone Middle School, won the Officer of the Quarter Award at the Sully District Citizens Advisory Committee meeting on Tuesday.  Lawson has worked at Stone for the last five years. During that time, he has established a track record as a mentor for middle-school students, said his supervisor, Officer Bill Fulton. He has also collaborated with other officers at the Sully District Station for investigations.
