Fairfax County Police say that the vehicles were vandalized in the early morning hours March 26.
Twenty-one vehicles were recently vandalized in the local area, according to Fairfax County Police. The drivers' side windows were all smashed between 2 a.m. and 3 a.m. March 26 in the Sully District. Property was stolen from four of the vehicles. All of the vehicles were parked throughout business complexes on the following streets: Crime Solvers is offering a $100-$1,000 reward for information on the vandalism. The intersection of Pleasant Valley Road and Braddock Road has long been a problem area, and officials say it's time to do something about it.
During peak commuting hours, long lines of cars back up at the intersection of Pleasant Valley and Braddock roads, with drivers often waiting over 10 minutes for their turn at the stop sign. That situation just might change in the next few years. VDOT is considering plans to make some major changes at that intersection, which a large number of commuters from the South Riding area use. "The current four-way stop operates at level of service 'F'. Which is obviously failing," said Bill Cuttler, a representative of VDOT, to chuckles from a group of about three dozen residents at a meeting about the project in the Sully District Governmental Center Monday. The Sully District supervisor and school board member will hold a meeting March 13 at Rocky Run Middle School.
Sully District Supervisor Michael Frey and School Board member Kathy Smith will host a town hall meeting on the Fairfax County budget March 13. The meeting starts at 7 p.m. at the Little Theatre in Rocky Run Middle School in Chantilly. Fairfax County and Fairfax County Public Schools management and budget staff will also co-host along with the Western Fairfax County Citizens Association and Sully District Council. County executive Ed Long’s advertised budget includes a 2-cent increase in the real estate tax rate, which is projected to raise nearly $42 million in count revenue.
