All officers who worked Saturday night focused on finding unsafe, impaired drivers.
All Fairfax County Police officers from the Sully District Station worked last weekend to try and curb drunk, impaired and aggressive drivers. Over 25 officers worked in the effort, which police dubbed "Operation: All Hands on Deck." Officers contacted 318 citizens, issued 146 warnings, and 164 citations. There were also six DWI charges. The Sully District has experienced a 16 percent increase in DWI-related crashes from 2011 to 2012, according to Fairfax County Police. Within the last two months, two police vehicles have been struck by drunk drivers.

A patrol by Sully Police District officers Friday led to DWI charges for two drivers, Fairfax County Police report. Officers from the Sully Police District patroled the area Friday for drunk drivers, and in addition to the two DWI charges, police issued 27 summonses and 35 warnings. A summons is an order to appear before a judge or magistrate, or the writ containing it: "a summons for nonpayment of a parking ticket." The Fairfax County Police Department patrols the roadways for drunk and impaired drivers. Sobriety checkpoints are one of the tools that police use to make sure drivers are not consuming alcohol and getting behind the wheel. Sully Police District sees decline from 81 vehicles stolen in 2010, most recent year statistics are available.
A preliminary police report shows that a grand total of 812 vehicles were reported stolen in 2012 in Fairfax County — 49 of which were reported in the Sully Police District. FCPD saw a decline in vehicle thefts compared to 2011 and 2010 when 881 and 963 vehicles were reported stolen countywide respectively. Sully Police District reported the lowest number of vehicle thefts among the county's police districts. Of the 963 vehicle thefts in 2010, 81 were reported in the Sully Police District, according to previous FCPD reports. Detectives give behind-the-scenes look at investigations.
An overflow crowd of area residents welcomed a new command team at the Sully Police District Station Wednesday night when they were also treated to a behind-the-scenes peek into the high-tech forensic devices that detectives use to solve crimes. The new station commander is Capt. Ed O’Carroll, who previously served at Sully as a patrol sergeant and the assistant commander is Lt. Richard Morvillo, who also previously worked at the station. Officer Tara Fruecht is the station’s new Crime Prevention Officer. Top commanders periodically rotate through all the Fairfax County Police Department stations.
